Who We Are

The Institute for Global Education & Service Learning (IGESL) is a non-profit organization that provides service learning training and technical assistance to schools, community organizations, and national service programs.

1. •IGESL is one of thirteen agencies named in the National and Community Service Act of 1993 as a central resource for service learning programs.
   

1. • IGESL is the Atlantic Regional Center for the National Service Learning Exchange and the hosting agency for national and international service learning conferences.

Our Mission

The IGESL creates service learning program models and initiates activity based education in collaboration with schools and organizations around the world.

What IGESL can do for You

IGESL provides training and technical assistance to service learning practitioners throughout the United States. This includes:

1. •Training teachers, administrators, youth, Senior Corps and AmeriCorps program members, and community-based organizations in service learning methodology;
   

2. •Providing publications on service learning in education;
   

3. •Helping to create service learning programs in schools;
   

4. •Introducing educators to a network of service learning practitioners;
   

5. •Sponsoring service learning conferences for teachers and students;
   

6. •Stimulating education reform in school districts;
   

7. •Assisting schools, teachers and students in assessing the effectiveness of service learning programs and in designing improvement strategies;
   

8. •Providing training and orientation for volunteers service schools and communities.
